There is nothing more stressful than losing important data due to hardware failure. Regardless if they are pictures you hold dear or information, critical to your company, they should be backed up on a disk or another device. If you fail to do this, all is not lost. They are still present on your hard drive and they can be recovered. Boomerang Data Recovery Software will scan your hard drive for erased files and you can save the results like any other file.

Downloading the 1.89 Mb setup file should not take long, even on a slower Internet connection. Installing the program on your computer will also be a straightforward process. The wizard will not prompt you to make any advanced settings or install additional tools. Compatibility or system resources are not something to concern yourself about. Boomerang Data Recovery Software can run on most versions of Windows or Mac OS.

The software will not slow you down with any complex menus or settings. Your hard drive's partitions will be listed in a tree structure on the main area of the interface and you will have to select one and start the recovery process with a click on one of the buttons in the lower right corner of the window. There are multiple recovery types to be performed. After selecting a partition, most users will need to click the Recover It button and choose from two scanning methods: Legacy, which will be slower but more effective and Standard, which will go a bit faster and it will still provide satisfactory results.

Before starting the scanning process, the program lets you choose what type of files to look for. With the aid of check boxes, you can select almost any file format from a tree structure. When this is done, you may click the Start Search button, in the lower right corner and the scan will commence. It will take some time to complete due to the thoroughness of the program, but any recoverable file will be found. The results will be sorted in folders, according to their paths and you can select and save them just like any other file.

You can also find a RAID reconstruction feature which can be launched the same way as the standard scan: select a partition and click the RAID button in the lower right corner of the main window. You can set the program to automatically detect your RAID array and reconstruct it. This way, you will only have to select your main hard drive and specify the number of drives in your RAID array. It is also possible to manually set your RAID for reconstruction. While in this mode, you will have to specify your RAID type, a start sector, common parameters and more.

Pros

Boomerang Data Recovery Software will take its time to scan your hard drive for lost files, but this is a good thing. It means that the program is thorough in its search. It lets you perform simple scans or reconstruct RAID arrays by making use of simple to understand options.

Cons

You will need at least basic knowledge on how RAID arrays work if you want to manually reconstruct them. If you lose data, either by accidentally deleting it or due to hardware failure, Boomerang Data Recovery Software will help you get it back with its thorough scanning methods. Regardless if you have a single or multiple hard drives, placed in a RAID array, the software will find any salvageable data.
